OBSTRAUPE is small but it's a serious overachiever. Its compact dimensions and low weight make it easy to use and highly agile. Its efficiency is becoming legendary in orchards. Traditional ground harvesting fruits / nuts is tiresome and back-breaking. With OBSTRAUPE, it's quick, easy and fun.
Yes...with our affordable, base model OBSTRAUPE 5, your cordless drill is used to power the collection cylinder (vs. the electric motor in OBSTRAUPE 5+). Simply mount your charged drill in seconds, switch it on, and adjust the speed with a lever on the handlebar.
Our Nut Shield accessory for the OBSTRAUPE 5 / 5+ Ground Harvesters enables 30% more efficient collection of nuts and small fruits. It fits over and covers the collection cylinder, preventing them from being ejected forward during harvesting.
Fruits and nuts pass through the internal leaf brush, filtering 90% of leaves / grass / debris. High quality materials (stainless steel and anodized aluminum) make cleanup safe and easy with a garden hose.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
For best performance harvesting apples/pears with Obstraupe, keep grass length up to a maximum of 6" (15 cm) tall. Shorter grass works better for smaller fruits and nuts. Our sophisticated anti-entanglement system uses a blade to clear long grass from the collection roller, preventing tangles. Be aware that battery life is reduced in taller grass.

Obstraupe works well on flat, uneven and hilly terrain (up to 25 degree inclines), harvesting fruits/nuts from hollows and around tree trunks. Its flexible fins on the collection roller, along with the guiding pick-up plate and single-axis design, ensure it adapts to ground variations effortlessly.

Obstraupe removes 90% of leaves, grass and debris thanks to its internal leaf brush. For areas with significant amounts of rotten fruit (e.g. in the summer, first harvest), we recommend using the OBSTRAUPE to clear the ground first. For high quality sorting, consider OBSTRAUPE's companion Sorter 2 Sorting Table.

Obstraupe and Sorter work best with "Euronorm" standardized crates measuring 23.62 x 15.75 x 7.09" (60 x 40 x 18 cm) Width x Depth x Height. They hold up to 9.2 gallons (35 L) or 44 lbs. (19.96 kg) of apples or pears. We offer the Extra Foldable Crates Set (6x) in our online shop.

It depends upon the OBSTRAUPE model, batteries and battery chargers.
OBSTRAUPE 5: Powered by an external cordless drill, operating and charging times depend upon the drill, its battery and charger. A 5Ah battery provides about 1 hour of harvesting time.
OBSTRAUPE 5+: Powered by its built-in electric motor and 48V 14.5Ah electric battery, it provides 4-5 hours of harvesting time.
Chargers & Charging Times:
2Ah Charger: Type A socket, approximately 4-5 hours.
4Ah Quick Charger: Type B socket, approximately 2-3 hours.

The speed of Obstraupe's collection roller can be adjusted using a potentiometer (speed controller). It rotates at a maximum speed of up to 180 RPM.

The special tilted wheel position on Obstraupe, in combination with deflectors, prevents fruit/nuts on the ground from blocking the wheels.

Obstraupe is not self-propelled. It is hand-propelled. While the collection roller's rotation provides some supportive drive, the wheels themselves are not powered. This lightweight design allows you to transport it easily, and enhances its agility in the orchard, especially on slopes. Its single-axle design and large 24" wheels make it feel like an off-road sports machine.
Yes, ground harvested apples, also known as "ground apples", "drops" or "windfalls", can be used to produce fermented hard cider in USA.
However, there are specific food safety regulations that must be followed. According to the FDA's Juice HACCP regulations, cider producers must treat these apples to ensure safety. This typically involves pasteurization and/or fermentation.
Compliance with these standards is essential to ensure the products are safe for consumption. For more detailed information on regulations and safety practices, visit the FDA's Juice HACCP page.
